Energy Bars in Canada: What to Look For Before You Buy

Energy bars sold in Canada carry a bilingual Nutrition Facts table and a %DV column, which makes comparing two bars easier than most shoppers realise. Here is how to use that label, what Health Canada says about caffeine, and an honest note on STAT's shipping range.

Coffee and an energy bar during a cold early shift in Canada

    1. Use the %DV column on the Nutrition Facts table

Canadian labels give a percent daily value for fibre, sugars, sodium and more. Health Canada's rule of thumb is that 5% DV or less is a little and 15% DV or more is a lot — a fast way to sort a real food bar from a candy bar.

STAT combines whey and milk protein with dietary fibre and botanical ingredients rather than a sugar-first formula, with the full breakdown printed on every wrapper.

    2. Protein per bar, not per 100g

Bar weights differ, so compare the per-bar column. For an active day or a missed meal, a bar in the mid-to-high teens of protein grams behaves very differently from a 5g cereal bar.

STAT delivers 16-19g of protein per bar depending on flavour: Chocolate 16g, Peanut Butter Espresso 17g, Salted Caramel Coffee 19g.

    3. Caffeine you can count against Health Canada's limit

Health Canada advises healthy adults keep caffeine to 400mg a day, and 300mg for people who are pregnant. A bar that prints its dose lets you keep that math honest alongside your coffee.

Each STAT flavour contains 100mg of natural caffeine from real coffee and cocoa — no synthetic caffeine.

    4. It has to survive a Canadian commute

A bar living in a truck, a jacket or a hockey bag through a prairie winter needs to stay edible cold and not turn to crumbs. Chocolate-coated bars tend to shatter; dense, shelf-stable bars hold up.

STAT Bars are single-wrapped and shelf-stable, designed for lockers and duty bags rather than fridges.

    5. Where STAT ships today

We currently ship within the contiguous United States only, so a Canadian order is not possible yet. We would rather say that plainly than take an order we cannot fulfil.

If you are in Canada, leave your email on our contact page and we will email you if that changes.

Each STAT bar contains 100mg of caffeine. Health Canada advises healthy adults stay under 400mg of caffeine per day, and 300mg during pregnancy, so count the bar alongside your coffee.

Look for a dense, shelf-stable bar without a chocolate coating that shatters when cold, a clearly stated protein number, real dietary fibre, and packaging that survives a bag or jacket pocket for days.

Prices are currently shown in US dollars because shipping is limited to the United States. We have not confirmed Canadian pricing.

No. STAT bars are food products, not supplements or natural health products. They are manufactured under FDA food regulations.
